Lash Extension FAQs

The lash extension application is an art, and each individual lash placement is critical.  The integrity of the natural lashes will not be jeopardized. Extensions that are too heavy or thick for the natural lashes will not be applied.

Lash extensions are all the rage in the beauty world. Once you get your first set, you will fall in love forever. We wanted to take the chance to answer the most frequently asked questions about lash extensions.

What are eyelash extensions?

Eyelash extensions are individual false lashes expertly attached to each eyelash with a special medical grade adhesive. This means it is one false lash, attached to one natural lash. They are expertly applied to the eyelash itself and are never in direct contact with your skin. They range in length, thickness and curl shape.

Are eyelash extensions customizable?

You will meet with Courtney and discuss the look you desire. During this consultation, she will go over lash type, length, thickness, curl shape, customizing and creating a design specifically for your eyes. She is able to achieve any look from very natural to extremely glamorous, using the strongest and longest lasting adhesive with the least amount of irritation available.

How long does the application process take?

If you are getting a full, new set of lashes, the process takes about 1 hour and thirty minutes to complete. Fill sessions vary depending on how long it has been since your last visit, and how well you have maintained your lashes.  You can come in for a fill every week, two weeks, or three weeks.

What should I do prior to my visit?

Please come with all eye make up completely removed at least two hours previous to your scheduled appointment time. It is extremely important that there is no mascara residue on your lashes, as the wax in mascara prevents the adhesive from bonding correctly, resulting in early lash loss. Do not curl or perm your lashes prior to attending. Also, avoid the use of heavy creams around the eye area prior to your visit.

How long do they last?

Courtney’s lashes can last up to 4-6 weeks. After receiving your full set, She recommends a touch up approximately 2-3 weeks later in order to maintain a beautiful, dense appearance. Courtney will inform you of how to care for your lashes for long lasting results.

Will my natural lashes be damaged or fall out?

Your natural lashes should not shed or fall out any more than they do naturally. Since the life cycle of your natural lashes is about six weeks, and your individual lashes shed at different rates, you can expect to see some fall out. It is perfectly normal to see some extensions fallout attached to your natural lash due to re-growth. Courtney will make sure that the extensions applied will be appropriate for your natural lashes. It is important that you do not scratch or pull at your extensions, as this can damage your natural lashes. If you notice your extensions are becoming loose or growing out, do not pull them off – check in with Courtney for a fill or a quick removal.

Can I still wear my regular eye makeup after application?

Eyeliner and shadow can be applied, although the eyeliner used must be wax free this means no pencil liner. Also bear in mind that you do not want to get your lashes wet within 24 hours of application, so be careful when removing your makeup. Makeup remover must be oil free. Do not use cotton when removing. Mascara use is not suggested, because it clumps the lashes, and is very hard to remove.  However, if you really want to, only use it on the very tips of the extensions, and make sure it is not waterproof. Usually people think their lashes look so great, they don’t feel the need to ever use mascara again!

Can I still use face wash?

You can still wash your face like normal, just make sure not to use eye make-up remover that contains any type of oil or petroleum. Stay away from any other products around the eye containing oils, such as eye serum or cream. Oil stops the adhesive from bonding to the natural lash, causing the extensions to fall off. When drying your face, make sure to blot your face gently and let your lashes dry naturally versus using a towel or blow drier. If you do feel the need to blow dry them, make sure to put the setting on cool, since direct heat loosens the bond of the adhesive, as well as straightening the curl of the extension.

What are the benefits of getting false lashes?

Ladies love getting lash extensions for fuller, more defined looking eyes. Lash extensions really open up the eyes and in turn make your face look refreshed and lively. They also eliminate the necessity for mascara, so you can safely swim, workout and shower without streaking or reapplying. Your eyelashes will naturally appear darker and longer for an instantly stunning look – perfect for brides, special occasions or everyday beauty!
